SEPARATE COLLECTION OF RECYCLABLES

The more segregated the recyclables are collected, the better they can be recycled into valuable products. As we are used to put everything in one waste container until now, we need to change our habits to separate the waste in our homes and businesses. The various ways of source segregation and separate collection are first tested in a pilot area in Vlorё City in cooperation with the Vlorё Municipality. Based on the experience in the pilot project, separate collection will be further developed and stepwise extended to other areas – first in the city and then in the entire Waste Zone.

As presented in the following map, about 100 depot containers are distributed in the pilot area for the collection of various types of recyclables.

In the first stage, following collection scheme is applied:

• • • Depot containers with a large round opening: plastic and metal packaging waste
    • Depot containers with a slot opening: paper and cardboard
    • Depot containers with a small round opening: glass and plastic bottles

At all locations also general waste is collected, so you only need to go to one location to dispose your waste.

The inhabitants of our Waste Zone, especially those living in the pilot area, play an important role in the success of separate collection. Only with highly motivated residents to participate in separate collection scheme, the recycling targets can be achieved.

Therefore, we ask you to participate and pay attention to the following points:

• • • Put only the respective materials in each container type
    • Do not put any non-recyclable waste into the recyclable containers
    • Do not put any waste outside containers and keep container locations clean

    • The containers are full and not emptied on time
    • The container locations are dirty
    • The containers are damaged or vandalised
